Before 1st of July

Dear All,

We are planning to reopen our Practice for routine appointments from the 1st of July to allow us time to fully implement our various safety precautions.

Before that date, as throughout the whole lockdown, I am available to solve all the emergency issues you may have so please, call the Practice if you need me.

Our lives have changed, and the way we look after you, as our patients, will have to change to ensure your safety. In light of this, I would like to point out a few key changes we have implemented at the Practice.

1.The waiting lounge will look a bit less cosy with socially distanced armchairs, no newspapers and no toys, in line with government guidelines.

2.The whole team will look different - more covered with necessary gear, but under those layers - it is still us, happy to look after you and your teeth with the upmost care.

3.There will be a little more noise in the surgery. Some very sophisticated filters will be catching and killing all airborne viruses and bacteria, including our main offender - coronavirus.

4.You may be seen in the downstairs surgery. The surgeries will be used in an alternated pattern to allow enough time for the air to be filtered after aerosol-generating procedures like high-speed drilling.

5.It will be possible to purchase some essential dental care products from our reception to save you a trip to the shop specially for these items. If you have specific wishes - please, let us know in advance so we have time to arrange it for you.

Please rest assured that everything we do, including all these changes, we do with you in mind.

Because the updates aren't particularly exciting, I have decided to introduce a little bonus. Many of you travel from far away to see us or have 'to-do' lists while in town; if you would like a complimentary cup of coffee - please, ask the receptionist. I regret it will not be served as I'd wish (in beautiful porcelain cups) - due to the corona-nuisance, but at least you will be able to take it with you if needed in a paper cup.

One of my lockdown tasks was to sort out my family digital photos. A brief reflection on these photos: the seasons never cease, time and time again we see winter, spring, summer and autumn, winter, spring, summer and autumn... No matter how long, cold and dark winter is, the spring always comes and it always has. 2020 is not the most prosperous and glorious year in our history but it will end. No matter how long and dark it feels at the moment.
So try to notice and appreciate the beautiful things around you to feel good, and look after yourselves - including your teeth!
I will see you soon.

Best wishes and kind regards as always,

Joanna - your dentist.
